LONG BEACH - Due to the generosity of Beach Athletic Club (BAC) donors, Long Beach State Athletics is excited to announce contributions in excess of $1.37 million dollars toward student-athlete scholarships this past fiscal year.
The annual contributions were raised through the generous contributions of 1,468 donors and exceed the previous year's total by more than $200,000. Along with the increase in annual donations, the total number of Beach Athletic Club members, making a gift of $100+ to Beach Athletics, has grown to 868 individuals and organizations.
"I want to personally thank each and every member of the Beach Family who supported our student-athletes by making a gift in 2014-15. In order to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes on-and-off the-field, the Beach Athletic Club must continue to develop and grow," LBSU Director of Athletics Vic Cegles said. "Through their generosity, our stakeholders have shown their commitment to Long Beach State University and the success of our student-athletes. This past year has proven that the Beach continues to get better through the backing of this community."
President of the Athletics Board of Directors, Bruce DD MacRae adds, "Every day we are given a chance to enhance the lives of others in a positive way. We all have choices when it comes to our giving; being a part of the Beach Athletic Club for many years I am proud and honored to support our scholar athletes at Long Beach State. I hope that each of you find it in your heart to give back to this great University and watch your legacy grow."
The Beach Athletic Club is the only booster club membership organization in the department and is designed to generate financial support for our scholarship fund and sport team enhancement funds. To become a member of the BAC and receive benefits, an individual must make a gift of $100+, however Beach Athletics accepts gifts ranging anywhere from $5 to $25,000+. All gifts made through the BAC are tax-deductible.
"We want everyone to feel a part of the Beach Family. Joining the Beach Athletic Club is a great way," invites Sara Cerulle, Assistant Athletics Director for Development. "We are here to match donor passion with department needs."
