Seven 49ers Receive USTFCCCA All-America Honors

LONG BEACH - Seven 49ers received USTFCCCA All-America honorable mention recognition for the 2015 NCAA Division I outdoor track & field season the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday afternoon.
Senior Cameron Glasgow led the way as a two-time All-American. He was recognized for his 18th-place showing in the 400m, while he also teamed up with junior Michael Perez-Rogers, junior Dylan McCloskey and senior Jahmani Lockett to finish 19th overall and garner All-America accolades in the 4x400 relay.
Earlier this year, the quartet also earned All-Big West honors after defending their conference title. They then went on to set a school and conference record 3:06.2 at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships. In addition, Glasgow won the 400m and took second in the 200m at the Big West Championships en route to being named the league's men's track athlete of the year.
Junior Willie Alexander received All-America distinction for the third year in a row, but it was his first award in the triple jump. He was a first-team All-American in the long jump in 2014, and also garnered honorable mention recognition in 2013. In addition, Alexander was tabbed the 2015 Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Year after winning the long jump and placing second in the triple jump.
Senior Chris Low picked up his second-straight All-America award in the 800m. Low is the school record holder (1:47.52) and is the two-time defending Big West champion. He was a first-team All-American in 2014.
Junior Michael Montgomery rounded out the group as he received honorable mention recognition in the pole vault. Montgomery was also an All-Big West performer after claiming the conference title with a lifetime-best 17-09.
First-team All-America honors were awarded to those who finished among the top-eight in their event at the NCAA Championships; second-team All-America honors went to those who finished between ninth and 16th; and honorable mention honors were given to the remaining NCAA qualifiers.
