49ers Finish In 12th Place At Desert Shootout

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Long Beach State posted a nine shot improvement in Saturday's final round of the Desert Shootout at Palm Valley Golf Club to finish in 12th place.
LBSU recorded a 285 to move up two spots in the team standings, completing the three-day tournament at 4-over par 868.
Kansas captured the team title with a 35-under 829, as the Jayhawks won by eight shots over Iowa State (-27) in second and nine strokes over Wichita State (-26) in third.
Senior Kevin Techakanokboon led the way for the 49ers, firing a final round 5-under 67 to move up from 43rd to tie for 26th. Techakanokboon recorded five birdies and one eagle for the day, while only making two bogeys and 10 pars. The Cerritos, Calif. native finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of 3-under 213.
Senior JJ Holen finished just one shot behind at 2-under, tying for 28th after carding his best round of the tournament with a 69.
Junior Daniel Chian shot a 72 to finish with a 4-over 220, tying for 51st, while fellow classmate Kevin Lee carded a 77 to tie for 67th at 8-over 224.
Freshman Austin Orkin shot an 82, tying for 81st at 18-over.
Antoine Rozner of UMKC won individual medalist with a 12-under 204, leading the field of 83 players by two shots over two players tied for second.
