Long Beach, Calif. - After playing brilliantly while leading Long Beach State through its busiest stretch of the season, four games in six days, senior Nick Faust was named the Big West Player of the Week.
Faust scored at least 20 points in three of the four games, leading Long Beach State to wins on the road at Colorado State as well as at home against New Mexico State, while pushing San Diego State and UCLA to the limit.
After scoring 20 points in a 76-72 loss to San Diego State, Faust set a career high with 27 points in a win at Colorado State, pitching in five rebounds, four assists and five steals in a dominating performance.
Faust again led the team in scoring with 16 points in a win over New Mexico State on Saturday, and then closed out an incredible week with 24 points on the road at UCLA as the Beach nearly upset the Bruins on Pauley Pavilion.
Over the course of the week, Faust averaged 21.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game, while shooting over fifty percent from the field and from three.
The award is the first of the season both for Faust and for Long Beach State. The last Big West Player of the Week award winner for the Beach was Mike Caffey, who was honored last season after leading LBSU to a pair of wins in the first week of conference play.
