
The Beach Finishes Weekend Sweep Behind Glamack's Big Match

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Dan Glamack's career-best 16 kills led the No. 12 Long Beach State men's volleyball team to a 25-21, 25-13, 25-23 sweep of St. Francis on Saturday at the UCSB Asics Invitational. The Beach (3-0) opened its season with three consecutive sweeps this weekend after sweeping Princeton and Limestone yesterday.
Glamack had the best day of his time at LBSU with 16 kills on .538 hitting. He made just a pair of errors on 26 swings to lead a hot-hitting Beach team. As a team, LBSU hit .367 in a dominating performance against St. Francis (0-4). Cody Martin also reached double digits with 10 kills while John La Rusch hit .571 with nine kills.
With the attack going strong, the 49ers also put up a strong performance on the defensive side of the net. Long Beach State had 10 team blocks and limited the Red Flash to a .145 hitting percentage. Bryce Yould led the blocking effort with five block assists while Martin and Taylor Gregory each tallied four block assists.
After hitting .533 to key the opening set win, Long Beach State held St. Francis to a negative hitting percentage in the second set. The Beach never trailed in the middle set as it took a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set was a defensive fight as both teams hit under .200 in the set and the lead traded hands four times. While the set stayed close throughout, the 49ers turned a 12-11 deficit into a 15-12 advantage and never trailed again while securing the sweep.
Long Beach State makes its home debut on Wednesday when it hosts MPSF foe UC San Diego at 7 p.m.
