FIRST TEE
The Long Beach State women's golf team kicks off the 2014-15 campaign at the season-opening Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic hosted by Colorado State. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday, Sept. 8 with first and second round action, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Both days will begin with a shotgun start beginning at 7:30 a.m. (PST). All three rounds will be contested at the par-72, 6,230-yard Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins Colo.

WOLLENBERG FIELD
LBSU will be among an 18-team field at this year's Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic. The 49ers will go up against Boise State, California, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Idaho, Illinois, Kennesaw State, Nevada, Northern Colorado, San Diego State, San Francisco, St. Andrews, UNLV, UTEP and Wyoming.

LBSU'S STARTING FIVE
Senior Chaewon Park, juniors Shawnee Martinez, Kassidy Teare and Janelle Sua and freshman Alicia Arzaga will represent the 49ers at this year's Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic. Sophomore Sachi Hamada will be playing as an individual.

LAST YEAR IN FORT COLLINS
The 49ers will be looking to improve from its seventh place finish from last year's 17-team field Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic. LBSU recorded a 54-hole score of 42-over-par 906 after turning in rounds of 307, 304 and 291. Junior Shawnee Martinez led the way for the 49ers placing ninth with a 2-over 218. Finishing just one stroke behind was fellow classmate Kassidy Teare, tying for 10th at 3-over.

TEARE HAS A BUSY SUMMER
Junior Kassidy Teare participated in two major championships this past summer as she qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in Dupont, Wash., and the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Glen Cove, N.Y. This was the third consecutive year a 49er women's golfer as advanced to the WAPL Championship and second year in a row that a 49er has qualified to both USGA championship events.

49ERS WELCOME EDWARDS AS ASSISTANT COACH
This past summer, Long Beach State head women's golf coach Joey Cerulle announced the hiring of Alexis Edwards as assistant coach. Edwards replaces Sue Ewart who retired after serving 12 years as the 49ers' head coach and the past five seasons as an assistant. Edwards comes to the Beach from Cal State Monterey Bay where she served as head coach the last three seasons. She also served as interim head coach at Fresno State during the fall season in 2011. Edwards was a four-year letterwinner on the women's golf team at BYU.

COMING ATTRACTIONS
LBSU returns to the Rocky Mountain State for the three-day Golfweek Conference Challenge, Sept. 22-24, at the Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo.
