The project was completed by Connor Sports Flooring, who handles all floor creation for the Division I Basketball Tournaments as well as special events including ESPN Events aircraft carrier games.

The floor has five full lined basketball and volleyball courts, and can accommodate up to nine volleyball courts at one time. The project also updated conduits for power and electrical wiring, allowing for the possibility of even greater upgrades in the near future.

In the process of installing the floor, the original concrete was re-leveled from 1994, and should provide a safer and more consistent surface for all events in the Walter Pyramid, which is utilized over 300 days per year as the primary practice and competition facility for four Beach sports in Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Men's Volleyball, and Women's Volleyball. The facility also is home to kinesiology classes on campus, and is the site of numerous outside events including movie and commercial shoots as well as the annual Jewels of the Night, Long Beach State's biggest fundraiser.
The main floor also received a slightly new design as part of the installation. The palm tree motif was kept, but now faces the television camera position in its entirety, and rather than being painted, was stained into the wood, as was a darker shade within the three-point arc. The "Beach" logo remains at center court, while the new Long Beach State font is placed on the apron, as well as a triangular pattern that resembles a pyramid.

Additionally, at the green and gold entrances of the building, a new welcome to those coming to the building has been stained into the floor.
Women's Volleyball kicks off competition on the new floor, which begins on Thursday, September 4.
