LONG BEACH, Calif. - Senior libero Tyler Jackson had another outstanding week in the back row and was rewarded with her second Big West Defensive Player of the Week award. Jackson compiled 38 digs and two aces in two road matches last weekend.

In the Beach's Big West opening win at UC Irvine, Jackson tied her season-high with 24 digs as she returned to her regular libero position. She followed it up a day later with 14 digs in a Long Beach State sweep of Cal State Fullerton to average 5.43 digs per set. Her season average was boosted to 4.11 digs per set, which ranks sixth in the Big West.

With another big week, the hometown senior became just the sixth player in Long Beach State history to reach 1,200 career digs. She most recently passed former teammate and partner on the sand courts Janisa Johnson on the career digs list.

Jackson led an excellent defensive effort from the Beach that limited UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton to a combined .176 hitting percentage and propelled the Long Beach State women's volleyball team to a 2-0 start in Big West play.

The Beach returns home this Saturday for a matchup with CSUN at 7 p.m. that will be featured on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
