Orlando, Fla. - The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) selected its 2013-14 award winners, whom were recognized during NACMA's 23rd annual convention on Tuesday.
Long Beach State's marketing team claimed three national awards, bringing the department's total to eight national awards in the past five years.
"We have had tremendous success over the past several years growing revenues, attendances, and our general constituent base, which requires dedication and commitment to the overall mission by our staff," said Senior Associate Athletic Director, Dedan Brozino. "It's humbling to see the staff be rewarded for their commitment to our family culture and the everyday experience at Long Beach State."
The Beach claimed three medals in one year for the first time ever, claiming the top spot in the Sales Piece category. The winning piece, which highlighted courtside seating options at the Walter Pyramid as `beachfront property', helped LBSU generate extra revenues surrounding the men's basketball season. LBSU also nabbed two silver medals for its efforts in the Sponsorship Activation and Promotional T-Shirt Design categories, both helping to drive attendance amongst the community and the student body.
In 2013-14, the LBSU marketing team consisted of Dale Johnson, Kirsten Makowiec, Tanya Moran , and Thomas St. Germain.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Best of Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 13 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. An association record of more than 1,100 awards entries were received for the 2013-14 year.
