THE MATCHUP
Long Beach State holds a 47-23 advantage over the Matadors in the all-time series but CSUN has owned the series recently. CSUN has won the last four meetings in a row and seven of the last 11. Last year's matchup in the Pyramid was a five-set thriller with the teams alternating set wins.
ABOUT THE BEACH
Long Beach State returns home after a couple of weeks away with a 12-4 record and a 2-0 start to Big West play. The Beach leads the Big West in allowing opponents to hit just .159 against them. At home, that mark dips to .117. LBSU is 7-1 on its brand new Walter Pyramid floor this year.
ABOUT THE PLAYERS
Chisom Okpala joined the LBSU record book last weekend by hitting .909 at Cal State Fullerton, which is tied for second-best in school history. Bre Mackie is enjoying a career year thus far, hitting .303 and averaginf 2.71 kills per set. She also continues to surprise in a new role at the service line as she ranks second on the team with 11 aces. Tyler Jackson continued her move up LBSU's all-time digs list, becoming the sixth player in school history to record 1,200 digs in a career. She is averaging a career-best 4.11 digs per set this year.
