FIRST TEE
The Long Beach State men's golf team opens the spring season at the 34th Anteater Invitational hosted by UC Irvine. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday, Jan. 27 with first and second round action followed by final round play on Tuesday, Jan. 28. All three rounds will be contested at the Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa, Calif.

ANTEATER FIELD
LBSU will be among a seven-team field in this year's Anteater Invitational as the 49ers will go up against Cal State Northridge, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Sacramento State, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. Four individuals from UCLA will also particiapte in this year's Anteater Invitational.
STARTING FIVE
Juniors JJ Holen and Kevin Techakanokboon, sophomores Daniel Chian and Kevin Lee and freshman Agostino Milazzo will represent the 49ers at the 34th Anteater Invitational.
LAST YEAR AT THE ANTEATER
LBSU will be looking to defend its Anteater Invitational title for the third consecutive year after claiming the team title in 2012 and 2013. The 49ers edged Cal State Fullerton by three shots at last year's Anteater Invitational at El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel, Calif., finishing with a 54-hole total of 27-over par 891. Tournament host UCI finished in third among the 11-team field at 31-over. Sophomore Daniel Chian placed second, finishing just one stroke behind first at 1-over 217.
LAST TIME OUT
LBSU closed out the fall season with a fourth-place finish at the 12-team Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif. The 49ers carded a three-round score of 9-under-par 843 after recording rounds of 287, 281 and 275. Sophomore Kevin Lee led the way for LBSU with his best peformance as a 49er, tying for second with an 8-under 205. Lee turned in the tournament's lowest score of 62 in the final round at the Stockton Country Club. It also surpassed his previous career low of 66.
49ERS HOST 18TH DEL WALKER INTERCOLLEGIATE
LBSU is set to host the 18th edition of the Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic, Mar. 3-4 at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach. The 49ers will be among an 11-team field that features Arizona (Pac-12), Cal State Fullerton (Big West), Cal State Northridge (Big West), Colorado State (Mountain West), Denver (Western Athletic), Grand Canyon (Western Athletic), Kansas State (Big 12), Wichita State (Missouri Valley) and UC Santa Barbara (Big West).
LBSU TAKES 10TH IN OHIO
The 49ers are coming off a 10th place finish at the 12-team Jack Nicklaus Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. LBSU posted a 54-hole score of 55-over 907 (300-300-307) to finish nine shots ahead of Ball State in 11th and 11 strokes over North Carolina in 12th. Daniel Chian led the way for the 49ers, placing 26th with a 10-over 223, followed by fellow classmate Kevin Lee tying for 25th (+13) and JJ Holen finishing in 43rd (+18).
LBSU BEGINS SEASON AT SAINT MARY'S INVITATIONAL
The 49ers started off the 2013-14 campaign at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Seaside, Calif. LBSU finished in 12th place (19 teams) at 37-over-par 901 (305-288-308). Sophomore Kevin Leewas the top player for the 49ers, tying for 19th with a 54-hole score of 5-over 221, that was highlighted by a career-low 66 in the second round to post his first top-20 finish of the year. Junior JJ Holentied for 25th with a 7-over 223 (79-69-75).
BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS TO SOBOBA SPRINGS
For the second consecutive year, the Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship returns to the Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto, Calif. The three-day tournament begins on April 27, with all nine teams competing for the Big West Championship and the automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
