LONG BEACH, Calif. -
With the first pitch to the 2014 season at Blair Field less than a month away, Long Beach State Dirtbags fans can now lock in season tickets to one of the toughest schedules in the nation. The home schedule features a bevy of national powers that appear in Collegiate Baseball's preseason poll including defending National Champion No. 15 UCLA. The season will begin at home when the Dirtbags host No. 9 Vanderbilt for a three game series Feb. 14-16.
Preseason No. 1 Cal State Fullerton will play a three game series at Blair Field as well 2013 College World Series participant and preseason No. 7 Indiana.
Long Beach State returns three of their five top hitters from last year's lineup as well as All-Big West reliever Ty Provencher. Michael Hill leads all offensive returners with a .336 batting average in 36 starts to go along with his team-leading three home runs. Richard Prigatano and Ino Patron will also return to the lineup after hitting .302 and .301 last year, respectively. Bekakis will also return to the Dirtbags roster in 2014 after missing all of the 2013 season.
Jake Stassi will also return to the mound after leading weekend starters in 2013 with a 3.32 ERA. Lefty pitcher Ryan Strufing will also make his way back into the rotation while closer Kyle Friedrichs returns to bullpen after missing 2013.
Season ticket plans start at just $120 for all 30 Dirtbag home games. Single tickets will go on sale on Jan. 27.
