49er Men's Volleyball Completes Perfect Week in Exhibition Action

LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State men's volleyball team completed a perfect week against three Canadian teams as it swept UBC Okanagan and the UBC Thunderbirds in a Thursday doubleheader at the Walter Pyramid.
LBSU started the day with a 25-16, 27-25, 25-14 win over UBC Okanagan. Sixteen 49ers played in at least one set.
Senior Dalton Ammerman and freshman Bryce Yould each finished with a team-high eight kills. Yould did not commit an error on 12 swings for a .667 hitting percentage. He also registered a team-best six blocks.
Senior McKay Smith and sophomores Andrew Whitt and Dan Glamack added six kills apiece. Glamack also had a team-high nine digs.
Connor Olbright played in all three sets and directed LBSU to a .295 attack percentage with 31 assists.
Nate Speijer paced the Heat with a match-high 14 kills, while Jeremy Fostvelt had 13 digs.
In their evening match, the 49ers came away with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-19 victory over the UBC Thunderbirds. LBSU hit a blistering .455 as a team, while holding UBC to .234.
Ammerman led the way with 15 kills (.444), seven digs and three aces, while senior Taylor Crabb had 12 kills and nine digs. Senior Ian Satterfield also finished with 12 kills and no errors on 17 attempts for a match-high .706 hitting percentage. Olbright registered 44 assists and five digs.
Long Beach State begins the regular season this weekend at the UCSB Asics Invitational, Jan. 3-4. The 49ers open the tournament with four pool play matches (best-of-three sets) beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday.
