Long Beach, Calif. - Senior Delainey Aigner-Swesey, junior Bre Mackie, and sophomore Alex Reid each finished with 10 kills each as Long Beach State won convincingly Saturday against Seattle 25-14, 25-13, 25-13. The 49ers hit .373 on the night while holding Seattle to .034 hitting.

Long Beach State (5-4) saw all five of its main hitters finish over .300 hitting, as the 49ers controlled every facet of Saturday's match. Erin Juley made 35 assists in three sets, the 49ers had nine aces overall, and made 10 total blocks to complement 36 digs in the match.

Two early Mackie kills gave the 49ers an early 4-2 lead, and a block by Chisom Okpala and Erin Juley helped the 49ers open up a 10-4 lead in the first. Another block, one of four in the set, from Joy Miley and Mackie helped the 49ers take a 15-8 lead, and the 49ers cruised out to a 25-14 win, as Alex Reid finished with six kills in the set.

A Seattle (2-10) service error followed by an overpass kill by Miley gave the 49ers a lead in the second set that they would never relinquish. A Reid kill put the 49ers on top 9-6, and then Aigner-Swesey put down a kill to push the 49ers out in front 15-10. That push continued with a kill from Okpala, and then Chelsea Cabrajac hit two consecutive aces to give Long Beach State an 18-10 lead, forcing a Seattle timeout. The 49ers closed out the set with a 25-13 victory.

Seattle took their only lead of the entire match at 3-2, but the 49ers quickly recovered to take a 4-3 lead on a Mackie kill, and pushed out to a 7-3 lead. The Redhawks pulled to within one point at 8-7, but Long Beach State went on a big run, getting two straight aces from Aigner-Swesey to take an 11-7 lead, and pushed to 16-7 before a Seattle timeout ended an 8-0 run. The 49ers closed out the set and the win with a25-13 victory, holding Seattle at -.103 hitting on the set.

Next up for the 49ers is a big home match, hosting No. 11 UCLA in the Walter Pyramid at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18. Long Beach State will host one final preseason tournament next weekend, facing off against CSU Bakersfield, Oregon State and Prairie View A&M in the Walter Pyramid, with a pair of neutral matches also held at Long Beach State.
