LOS ANGELES - Long Beach State's Simone Hoey captured the 91st annual Los Angeles City Women's Championship on Sunday at Rancho Park Golf Course.
The soon-to-be senior from Rancho Cucamonga shot an opening round 71 on Saturday and carded a 73 in Sunday's final round to finish the two-day tournament with a 36-hole score of 144. This was Hoey's first tournament win since capturing the inaugural LBSU-hosted Gold Rush last spring at Yorba Linda Country Club.
This past season, Hoey earned All-Big West Conference second team honors after recording her first top-10 finish, tying for fourth place at the Big West Championship in San Luis Obispo. Hoey finished the year with a stroke average of 76.58, recording three top-20's.
Former 49er Monica Villarreal placed third with a 147 after shooting rounds of 74 and 73.
