
LBSU completes day one at Del Walker Match Play Championship

LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State men's golf fell to No. 5 UCLA, 3-2, on Tuesday at the Del Walker Match Play Championship at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.
Senior Kevin Roy and freshman Xander Schauffele won their matches on Tuesday morning as Roy recorded a 3&2 victory and Schauffele came away with a 4&2 win, while juniors Phillip Chian (4&3), Raymond Ho (3&1) and senior Kevin Lim (8&7) fell in their matches.
In the afternoon session, LBSU was matched up with No. 4 USC as both the teams are tied at two matches apiece going into Tuesday morning. Chian (2&1) and Roy (2&1) won their matches, while Schauffele fell 2&1 and Ho at 3&2. Lim and USC's Jeffrey Kang were all squared through 14 holes and will resume their match on Tuesday morning after darkness fell on Monday.
