THE 49ERS ON THE INTERNET: Rob Brender provides play-by-play for the third consecutive season on LongBeachState.com.
49ERS LOOKING TO TAKE THE "CO" OFF CO-CHAMPIONS:
Long Beach State, which wrapped up a tie for the Big West Conference championship when it beat UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, can claim its second straight Big West outright title with a win against UC Riverside Saturday. With the newest title, LBSU has now won 13 league championships since the 1969-70 season, with three coming in the last six years. LBSU has already wrapped up the top seed in March's Big West Tournament.
ANDERSON WILL SET NEW LBSU RECORD WITH NEXT STEAL:
Larry Anderson, who had three steals Wednesday against UC Santa Barbara, has moved into a tie with Lucious Harris for the most steals in school history with 200. Anderson will break Harris' record, which was set from 1989-93, with one steal against UCR on Saturday.
MONSON GETS WIN NUMBER 250:
Dan Monson picked up his 250th career win on Wednesday when the 49ers beat UC Santa Barbara. The 49er head coach has 80 of those wins at Long Beach State during his five-year tenure. He started his career with 52 wins at Gonzaga before winning 118 games at Minnesota.
STREAKING!:
The 49ers will put three long streaks on the line Saturday against UC Riverside. LBSU has won 21 straight Big West Conference games dating back to last January, while owning 20 straight home wins. The 49ers last lost in the Walter Pyramid on Nov. 27, 2010 to LMU. LBSU has also won 15 straight home conference games.
