Dirtbags ready for 2013 season after strong summer campaign

Long Beach, Calif. - As Long Beach State gets ready for the 2013 season, here's a look back at how the Dirtbags fared over the summer, one that featured a number of players earning Top Prospect honors as well as All-Star recognition throughout some of the top leagues in the country.
Josh Frye - Long Beach Legends (Southern California Collegiate Baseball League
- Name to the SCCBL All-Star team as one of five starting pitchers honored
- Struck out 49 batters in 43 innings pitched, the second-most in the league
- Posted a 4-1 record with a 1.88 ERA
- Led the Legends to the playoffs with a 36-18 overall record
Josh Guerra - Alexandria Beetles (Northwoods League)
- Played in 46 games for the Beetles, hitting .235
- Hit eight doubles, two triples, and two home runs
Michael Hill - Orange County Pioneers (California Collegiate League)
- Rated as the No. 22 Prospect in the CCL by Perfect Game
- Hit two home runs for the Pioneers
- Finished the summer with a .260 average and nine RBI
Landon Hunt - Conejo Oaks (California Collegiate League)
- Posted a 4-3 record and a 3.94 ERA over 49 innings pitched
- Led the Oaks with 49 strikeouts and just eight walks
Jon Maciel - Peninsula Oilers (Alaska Baseball League)
- Rated as the No. 8 prospect in the Alaska Baseball League by Baseball America and No. 11 by Perfect Game
- Ranked fifth in the league with a 2.14 ERA
- Finished the summer with a 36/6 strikeout to walk ratio
Jeff McNeil - Brewster Whitecaps (Cape Cod League)
- Represented the East in the Cape Cod All-Star Game, the top-rated summer league
- Named the MVP of the Whitecaps
- Hit .301 with five stolen bases and 22 runs scored as the Whitecaps' leadoff hitter
Ino Patron - Sanford Mainers (New England Collegiate Baseball League)
- Hit .336 with eight doubles in 32 games with Sanford
- 7-for-8 in stolen bases over the summer
Richard Prigatano - La Crosse Loggers (Northwoods League)
- Rated the No. 3 prospect in the Northwoods league by Baseball America and No. 7 by Perfect Game
- Named to the Northwoods Postseason All-Star Team
- Slugged an incredible .526 while hitting .316 overall
- Hit 11 home runs and 15 doubles
- Had 51 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 11 Walks
- Helped lead the Loggers to the League Championship
Jake Stassi - La Crosse Loggers (Northwoods League)
- Named to the Northwoods Postseason All-Star Team
- Posted a 4-1 record with a 2.78 ERA
- Struck out 50 batters while walking 15 over 55 innings pitched
- Helped lead the Loggers to the League Championship
Jeff Yamaguchi - Peninsula Oilers (Alaska Baseball League)
- Hit .202 with six RBI over 37 games
