LONG BEACH, Calif. - The 15th-annual Long Beach State Donor Student-Athlete Dinner was held Wednesday night at The Pointe inside the Walter Pyramid with more than 215 student-athletes, donors and administrators in attendance.
Alex Goldberg, a member of the Class of 2010 and a former Long Beach State track and field athlete, was the featured speaker. A part of the 4x100 school-record relay team and the 2007 Big West Freshman of the Year, Goldberg spoke about the influence that his time at LBSU had on his personal and professional development and how it allowed him to become a leader in the community while working as a financial advisor for Northwestern Mutual.
Both student-athletes and donors came away impressed. "This is the best event that the athletic department hosts each year," Director's Circle member Rick Burns said. "The interaction with the student-athletes allows me to truly see how my financial support impacts young people at this university."
The 49er Athletic Club will launch its 2011-12 Annual Fund Campaign today. To join the 49er Athletic Club, call (562) 985-4662.
