LBSU completes day one at Big West Conference Championship

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - After day one at the Big West Conference Championships in Mission Viejo, junior Kevin Roy and sophomore Kevin Lim led the way for the Long Beach State men's golf team, as both players tied for 27th place at 11-over par 155.
Roy recorded an opening round 75 (two birdies, five bogeys) to tie for 14th. In the second round, Roy fell in the standings with an 80 (birdie, six bogeys, double-bogey) to tie for 27th.
Lim posted a 79 in the opening round (birdie, two bogeys, three double-bogeys) to tie for 30th at the par-72, 6,942 yard Mission Viejo Country Club. In the second round, Lim improved by three strokes with a 76 (two bogeys, double-bogey) to move up in the standings.
LBSU is currently in ninth-place at 48-over after posting a 312 in both rounds for a total score of 624. UC Davis leads the field of nine teams with an even-576 as the Aggies holds an eight-stroke lead over second-place Pacific (+8) and 11 shots over Cal Poly (+11) in third.
Sophomore Benjamin Lein is one stroke behind in 31st at 12-over. Lein posted rounds of 77 and 79 for a 156. Fellow classmate Philip Chian is two shots back at 14-over as he's tied for 35th after recording rounds of 81 and 77.
Austin Graham of UC Davis sits on top of the leaderboard at 4-under 140, holding a one-shot lead over Nick Delio (-3) of Cal State Northridge.
The winner receives the automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament that begins on May 19-21 at six regional sites.
Final round concludes on Tuesday with the 49ers teeing off from the 10th hole at 7:30 a.m. with UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton.
