Two 49ers garner Big West Winter All-Academic honors

IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Courtney Jacob and junior Tipesa Moorer were named to the 2010-11 Big West Women's Basketball All-Academic Team the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Jacob, a graduate student who is working toward her master's in school psychology, was a second-team All-Big West selection after finishing the season as Long Beach State's top scorer and rebounder. She averaged a career-high 14.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
The Naples, Fla., native also ranked among the top 10 in the conference in scoring, rebounding, assists (3.7/game), field goal percentage (45.6 percent), steals (1.8/game) and blocked shots (1.2/game). Jacob is a three-time Big West All-Academic pick and was named to the Captial One All-District 8 Second Team earlier this year.
Moorer earned her second Academic All-Big West honor after finishing third on the team with 7.7 points per outing. The Harbor City, Calif., native had 10 double-figure scoring games on the year with a season-high 15 points against Prairie View A&M. Moorer is majoring in communications with a minor in marketing.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, have attained a sophomore standing academically and competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
