Anderson named Big West Conference Player of the Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Junior Larry Anderson has been named the Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading Long Beach State to a pair of wins over UC Riverside and Montana. The player of the week award is the third of the season for Anderson, as well as the fourth of his career.
Anderson (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan HS) averaged 16 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the two wins, while making 55 percent (11-of-20) of his field goals, 66.7 percent (2-of-3) of his 3-pointers and 80 percent (8-of-10) of his free throws. The junior guard opened the week with his fifth career double-double against UC Riverside when he scored 15 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds. He also had three assists and three steals against UCR. Against Montana he scored 17 points, making 6-of-8 shots, against the Big Sky Conference leading Grizzlies.
Anderson is averaging 14.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game during the season, while making 55 percent of his shots. He is also averaging 3.5 assists and a team best 2.0 steals per game. He has scored in double figures in six straight games, as well as 13 of Long Beach State's last 14 games and 18 of the last 20 he has played in.
Earlier this season, Anderson was named Big West Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks after averaging 19.3 points, seven rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game. He converted on 31-of-42 shots (73.8 percent), including 2-of-4 from three, and 13-of-17 (76.5 percent) free throws during the two-week stretch.
Anderson's first career player of the week award came on Nov. 16, 2009 when he earned co-player of the week honors after leading LBSU to a season-opening win against Alaska Anchorage. Long Beach State players have won five BWC player of the week awards this season with T.J. Robinson and Casper Ware each winning one.
