Noelle Zavaleta named Big West Conference Golfer of the Month

IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Noelle Zavaleta was named Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for October, the league office announced on Friday.
This is the first monthly award for Zavaleta this season and second overall in her career. Zavaleta received the last golfer of the month award last season for the month of April after tying for second-place at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Half Moon Bay.
The Lakewood native began the month of October tying for 45th place at the Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. after shooting a 13-over par 229 and leading LBSU to fifth.
Two weeks later, Zavaleta would turn in a strong performance to close out the fall season at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Boulder City, Nev., finishing in fifth with a 1-under 215. Zavaleta fired a career-low 69 in the opening round to record her first Top 10 finish this season and fifth in her career.
LBSU returns to action on Feb. 19, taking part in the three-day Folino Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton at the Industry Hills Golf Club in the City of Industry.
