49ers' incoming class earns postseason honors

LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State women's basketball team's 2010 recruiting class has earned numerous honors following their final high school season.
Brandi Henton (Modesto, Calif.) was tabbed the CIF Division IV Player of the Year, while she also earned all-state honors. The 5-foot-7 guard recently led Modesto Christian High School to the Sac-Joaquin Division IV championship, averaging 21.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 3.1 assists per game.
Janae Coffee (Fresno, Calif.) and Alex Sanchez (Anaheim, Calif.) also garnered All-State Division I accolades. Coffee, a 6-foot-3 center, guided Clovis West High School to the Central Section Division I title, averaging 16.6 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per outing. Sanchez, meanwhile, helped Troy High School advance to the CIF Southern Section Division IAA semifinals. The 5-foot-10 guard is a three-time all-state and all-CIF selection.
Chantel Dooley (Northridge, Calif.) led Montclair Prep to the 2010 CIF-Southern Section Division V championship game as a senior. She was tops on the team in nearly every statistical category, averaging 16.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.6 steals per contest.
Long Beach State's recruiting class was ranked 57th in the nation by ESPN Hoopgurlz.com. It was the highest ranking among Big West schools and was just behind Pac-10 members UCLA (No. 55) and Oregon (No. 56).
