LONG BEACH - Due to the heavy rains that has fallen in Southern California the last 24 hours and the forecasted weather for more heavy rain for Saturday afternoon and evening and the poor course conditions at Old Ranch Country in Seal Beach, The Gold Rush presented by Golfsmith has been cancelled for Monday, Feb. 8 and Tuesday, Feb. 9.
"We're obviously very disappointed with the cancellation of The Gold Rush," said 49er Head Coach Joey Cerulle. "Our players were looking forward into starting up the season and to have all this rain ruin the course for our inaugural tournament is a disappointment. We just have to move on and focus on the Stanford tournament next weekend."
The Long Beach State women's golf team will now open the spring season at the Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford University on Feb. 13-14.
