Robinson named Big West Player of the Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Junior T.J. Robinson has been named the Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 31 points at North Carolina and becoming the 18th Long Beach State player to score 1,000 career points. The player of the week award is the third for Robinson during his career and the first for a Long Beach State player this year.
Robinson (West Haven, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral HS) averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game for the 49ers in games at Utah State and North Carolina. He connected on 17-of-30 shots (56.7 percent), while also making 3-of-5 (60 percent) 3-pointers. The 49er forward made 13-of-19 shots (68.4 percent) against the Tar Heels, including a career-best three 3-pointers. Robinson just missed his 29th career, and seventh this season, double-double when he scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds at Utah State.
Robinson is averaging 14.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, the only player in the Big West averaging a double-double. He leads the league in rebounding and defensive rebounds, while ranking among the league leaders in scoring (12th), field goal percentage (7th), offensive rebounds (3rd) and minutes played (5th).
Robinson won his first Big West Conference Player of the Week award as a freshman on Feb. 9, 2009, and his second as a sophomore on Nov. 30, 2009.
