Long Beach, Calif. - AVCA Hall of Famer Brian Gimmillaro is an easy choice to helm the All-Pyramid team. Regarded as one of the finest volleyball minds in the country, Gimmillaro has led Long Beach State's women's volleyball team to three NCAA titles, eight final four appearances, 10 Big West Championships, and 23 straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
In 2009, Coach Gimmillaro led the 49ers to a 22-9 record and a second-consecutive Big West Championship, behind All-American Naomi Washington and All-Region pick Caitlin Ledoux.
Gimmillaro's players, in addition to their success in the Walter Pyramid, have gone on to great success outside of it. Misty May-Treanor is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and is regarded as the best beach volleyball player in the world, while Danielle Scott-Aruda and Tayyiba Haneef-Park each won Silver Medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Many other players are playing professionally either in the AVP or in indoors leagues overseas.
