Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State women's volleyball kicks off the 2009 season with "Volleyball 101," a fan-friendly event coming to the Walter Pyramid on Saturday, August 15.
The free event will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and will include a select-a-seat opportunity for season ticket holders, a practice and scrimmage featuring the 2009 Long Beach State 49ers and a question and answer session with the coaching staff.
Following the practice, players and coaches will be available for a meet and greet as well as autographs on the Walter Pyramid floor.
The 2009 season will be full of excitement as a great home schedule highlights the 15th season of the Walter Pyramid. 2008 Final Four participant Texas, Top 25 teams San Diego and Utah along with conference rivals Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara all visit The Beach and will match up with a 49ers squad featuring honorable mention All-American Naomi Washington and the defending Big West Freshman of the Year in Caitlin Ledoux.
Long Beach State looks to defend its Big West title and secure a 23rd consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2009, so get in the action early in the first event of the Long Beach State athletic calendar.
