49ers finish in fifth place at Big West Championships

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Long Beach State men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Big West Conference Championships as the 49ers recorded a three-round total of 22-over 886 at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
UC Davis won the team title with an 861 (291-286-284), followed by UC Irvine (292-287-289) and Pacific (294-288-286) with an 868 and UC Riverside in fourth with an 882 (287-296-299).
Junior Michael Drake led The Beach as the top player as he finished tied for seventh with a one-under 215 (76-66-73).
Freshman Kevin Lim tied for 16th with a four-over 220 as he shot an even-72 on Tuesday afternoon and finished second for LBSU.
Junior Steve Gibson carded a 75 in the final round to finish tied for 16th with a four-over 220.
Freshman Kevin Roy shot a 75 and Austin Love recorded a 76 as both players tied for 35th with a three-round score of 232.
Austin Graham and Ramie Sprinkling of UC Davis tied for first place with a three-under 213.
The All-Big West Conference awards were announced following the tournament as Drake received Second Team honors and Lim was named Co-Freshman of the Year.
