
49ers finish in eighth place at Braveheart Classic

BEAUMONT, Calif. -- The Long Beach State men's golf team shot a 306 in Tuesday's final round of the Braveheart Classic to finish in eighth place. The 49ers accumulated a tournament total of 32-over par 896 at the Oak Valley Golf Club.
Oregon captured the team title by seven strokes over second place Southern Utah as the Ducks finished with an 11-over 875.
The 49ers were previously tied for third with Southern Utah after Monday's first two rounds after recording a 296 and 294.
Junior Michael Drake was the top individual for The Beach as he finished tied for 16th as he carded a three-over 75 in Tuesday's final round for a total of 221.
Freshman Kevin Lim finished second for the 49ers as he tied for 28th as he shot a three-over 75 for a eight-over 224.
Junior Steve Gibson recorded a nine-over 81 to finish tied for 50th with a 13-over 229, while freshman Kevin Roy finished just one stroke back as shot a eight-over 80 in the final round.
Sophomore Ricky Montanez recorded his best score of the tournament as he came away with a four-over 76 to finish tied for 86th.
Nate Page of Southern Utah won the individual medalist with a one-under 215. There were five other players tied for second place.
The 49ers are back in action as they travel to Pauma Valley, Mar. 12-13, for the Triumph at Pauma Valley hosted by San Francisco
