Registration open for Beach Marathon Mile

LONG BEACH - The Beach Marathon Mile is an incremental running program that has been designed to encourage kids, adults and families to exercise together and promote a healthy lifestyle that will continue for years to come. Registration for this program opens today and will close on Feb. 21, 2010.
Participants will run a total of 26.2 miles (full marathon distance) by combining their mileage from all their runs over a 16-week period. They will log a total of 25 one-mile runs between Dec. 1, 2009 and March 21, 2010.
Participants will complete their final 1.2 miles at the Long Beach State Track on March 21, 2010. All registered participants will receive a Beach Marathon Mile t-shirt the day of the event. Upon completion of the final 1.2 miles, participants will receive a Marathon Finisher's Medal with ribbon, along with snacks and refreshments.

Group discounts are available for organizations that register 20 or more participants. A 20% discount will apply to each participant with the organization (reduction of $3 from the full registration fee). For NCAA purposes, the discount can not apply to participants who attend high school or community college.
Long Beach State will also be hosting the 19th Annual Black and Gold Intersquad, 3rd annual Alumni Track Meet and the Distance Carnival on Saturday, Dec. 12, at Jack Rose Track.
