About 2008-09 49er Men's Basketball
Year two under the direction of Head Coach Dan Monson begins as the program continues to grow with an ambitious schedule for 2008-09. Led by preseason All-American candidate and last season's Big West scoring champion Donovan Morris, the 49ers take on a home schedule that includes New Mexico State, Pepperdine and traditional power Temple as well as a home ESPNU Bracketbuster game. The campus is also falling back to tradition, with the annual Homecoming event taking place on Saturday, November 22 during the home opener against Weber State.
With the Big West Conference as wide open as it has been in years, a new-look 49er basketball team will be among the squads taking their chance to steal the conference and earn another trip to the Big Dance.
About 2008-09 49er Women's Basketball
Youth turns to experience as the 2008-09 women's basketball team returns the core group from the last two seasons. Seniors Karina Figueroa and Kaiti O'Brien will be joined by Arizona transfer Whitney Fields, starting guard LaTorya Barbee and a solid incoming class. The team faces a home schedule that includes San Diego State, Brigham Young and New Mexico State before transitioning into Big West Conference play where they will look to duplicate their 2006 success under Head Coach Mary Hegarty, when the team shared the Big West title.
