
49ers and Ducks Play to 3-3 Tie

LONG BEACH-- Long Beach State (4-1-2) and Oregon (4-2-1) played to a 3-3 double overtime tie on Sunday afternoon in a physical, back and forth affair that saw LBSU tie it in the 88th minute.
Kim Silos tied the contest in the 88th minute when she fought through traffic and scored from 30 yards out to make it 3-3. Oregon had taken a 3-2 lead in the 53rd minute when Jessica Goodell lasered a cross from Allison Newton to give the Ducks an early second half advantage.
The 49ers outshot the Ducks 20 to 10, including six overtime shot, and took nine corner kicks.
In the overtime frame, each team had opportunities to win it, as Liz Ramos made two of her four saves in the first overtime period,while Cody Miles made three of her nine saves in the first 10 minutes of overtime.
Both teams scored twice in the first half, with each scoring once in the final five minutes on free kicks.
LBSU went on the board first in the 31st minute when Hayley Bolt headed a pass from Nicole Hubbard to make it 1-0. Teresa Bowns then answered nine miutes later taking a pass from Jen Stoltenberg at 39:28 to make it 1-1. Over the final four minutes of the half, each team traded goals as Lindsay Bullock scored on a LBSU pentaly shot at 41:12, before Stoltenberg answered with a free kick from just left of the box to tie it at 2-2.
The 49ers are next in action when they travel to Utah on September 19 and Utah State on September 21.
