Long Beach State Recognized By NCAA

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State's giant flag promotion during last baseball season gained some additional notoriety last week after it was chosen as the lead photograph in the NCAA's Champion magazine for the Summer publication.

Celebrating the first game of the Dirtbags' series with Cal State Fullerton, part of America's best college baseball rivalry, fans were invited to come out and help hold a 95-by-100 foot flag during the national anthem in the Friday opener on May 24.

The photo was selected as the "1,000 words" feature, a two-page spread starting the magazine during each issue of its quarterly run. The flag was provided by Jim Alexander, the owner of Superflag.
