Crimes, USA Advance To Pan-American Cup Quarterfinals

Long Beach, Calif. - The U.S. Women's Volleyball team concluded pool play at the Pan American Cup with a 4-1 record, good for a tie with the Dominican Republic and Argentina. The Americans continue their play in Mexico with the quarterfinals with Puerto Rico on June 5.
Former Long Beach State star Alexis Crimes is among 12 players on the United States roster for the Pan-American Cup, and has started at outside hitter for the national team during pool play, where the 49ers went 4-1 with their lone loss coming to the Dominican Republic in five games.
The 49ers will now try to advance through the quarterfinals, where they will play Puerto Rico for the right to play in the semifinals, as well as earn an automatic berth into the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix. Matches will conclude on June 7 with the Championship Final.
