Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State's popular summer women's volleyball camps are just around the corner, and chances to sign up for the various camps are available now. Led by three-time NCAA Champion head coach Brian Gimmillaro and his outstanding staff, reservations for the camps are due by July 12.
Campers, who will receive a t-shirt and over 30 hours of instruction during the camps, have the option of either attending overnight for the multi-day camp or can also return home during the week. Room and board will be provided for all overnight campers, while day campers will have the option to purchase lunch while at the camp.
Activities and instruction at the camp will be under the direction of the 49er staff, one of the best in the country. Along with Gimmillaro, two-time Olympian setter and volleyball hall-of-fame member Debbie Green and national champion libero Melissa Ohta make up the assistants for the program. Also teaching at the camp will be a number of former and current players from the highly successful Long Beach State program.
The 49ers will have a total of six camps through the summer. The initial pair of skills and team camps begins on July 19 and runs through July 22, and is designed for girls 12 and older. A second pair of skills and team camps will be offered from July 25-28. In between, a kids camp for ages 7-11 will be provided as well as a setters camp designed specifically for that position will run from July 22-25.
More information can be found online at 49er Camps or by contacting Assistant Coach Melissa Ohta at (562) 985-7352 or mohta@csulb.edu.
