Long Beach Regional Pretournament Press Conference No. 4 Fresno State
Head Coach Mike Batesole: "The is a big weekend with all four of us having seen each other. We have seen Long Beach State twice, Cal three times and San Diego in regional action the past few years. One through four, this regional is probably the toughest regional this year."
"These three guys (LBSU, Cal, USD) have been ranked pretty consistently and we were ranked early on, so it could be really tough.
Regarding his thoughts once seeing the pairings "I was surprised on the strength of one through four, but that is why you come here....to play the best."
Regarding bringing the past three teams to the NCAA Tournament "This is the team I am most proud of. It was the toughest road to get here. Winning the WAS tournament was a war right down to the end. We had a few guys hurt and they just kept finding a way to get it done."
Regarding Fresno State's future hopes of hosting a NCAA Tournament "That is our master plan. We want to earn the respect that will get us back there. We won our third straight conference tournament and have never done that before. We have talked about putting ourselves in a place to host a regional again."
Steve Susdorf Regarding Blair Field being a pitcher's park "It's definitely friendly toward the pitchers here because when you hit at Blair, it doesn't go far. You have to rely a lot on singles."
Regarding having seen their opponents during the season "It's nice to see all their hitters and to know what pitches to throw them."
Justin Wilson Regarding Blair Field being a pitcher's park "I like it here. Weather wise, you can't play in a better place. It's a big park and you have got to throw strikes and put pressure on the hitters."
Regarding the efforts of his younger teammates "Our young guys have stepped up huge this season. Since the first day, they have been ready to play."
