LBSU will welcome defender Nicole Hubbard (Lakewood/Mayfair HS) and midfielder Shawna Gordon (Rancho Cucamonga/Los Osos HS) as freshmen, while Marissa "Bo" Rael (Rancho Cucamonga/Los Osos HS), who played last semester at the University of Oregon, is currently enrolled in school.
An All-CIF pick, Hubbard broke the school-record for scoring at Mayfair High this year, and played for the Infinity Club team, the same as current 49er Lindsay Bullock. Mayfair High won CIF during her sophomore season, and reached the CIF Finals last year. They were ranked No. 1 in Division-III this past season. She is slated to play outside defender at The Beach. Her brother, Matt, is a junior at LBSU.
Gordon is arguably one of the school's best recruits, all-time, as she is a current member of the U17 National Team, who recently traveled to Argentina with Team USA. The prep All-American and All-CIF pick has been invited to a number of national camps over the last 10 months and is likely a top-50 or top-25 recruit. She has also been a part of the ODP and Regional teams for the past five years.
Rael played along side Gordon at Los Osos High and will be central defender for the 49ers. She enrolled in school in the spring and is currently practicing with the team. She was a first team All-CIF pick and a three-time all-league selection. Rael played one game for the Ducks in 2007.
Gordon and Rael both played for the Arsenal club team, along with current 49er, Janet Mendez as well.
Last year the 49ers went 13-7 and won their second-straight Big West regular season title. LBSU has had three classes ranked nationally, beginning in 2005 (15th) and continuing in 2006 (39th) and 2007 (27th).
