Morris And Plater Earn All-Conference Honors

IRVINE, Calif. - Long Beach State's Donovan Morris and Greg Plater earned All-Big West Conference honors as the all-conference teams were announced on Monday from the conference office. Morris, a senior, was a first team all-league pick while Plater was named to the All-Freshman squad.
Morris won the Big West scoring title, averaging a league-best 21.0 points per game. In league outings he averaged 23.5 points per game, scoring 30 or more points five times on the season. In Saturday's overtime loss to league champion UC Santa Barbara, Morris scored a career-high 33 points.
Plater appeared in all 30 games as a true freshman, starting 16 times. Plater is averaging 7.4 points per game this season while scoring in double digits nine times. He tallied a career-high 21 points at Pepperdine and finished second on the squad with 41 made three-pointers. The 41 three's is a new 49er freshman record.
The conference honors went to Cal State Northridge's Bobby Braswell as Coach of the Year, UC Davis' Mark Payne as Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year went to Cal State Fullerton's Scott Cutley and UC Santa Barbara's Alex Harris.
