LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach State men's water polo team won its third and fourth consecutive games as they downed Brown 10-4 and MIT 9-5 on Sunday at the 49er Campus Pool. The seventh-ranked 49ers improve to 11-4 overall while Brown fell to 9-7 and MIT to 8-9.

In the first game, Jeff Greenwood led the 49ers with three goals while Greg Henneman and Justin Koeppen each scored twice. Goalie Derek Wiebe-Bailey had nine goalie saves. Head Coach Gavin Arroyo had the luxury of using his bench, as 18 different players saw action against the Bears. Long Beach jumped to a 4-1 lead

after one quarter. Travis Buchanan (7:34) and Greenwood (6:46) gave the 49ers a quick 2-0 lead. After Mike Gartner scored for the Bears at 3:45,

the 49ers closed out the quarter on goals by Koeppen (0:49) and Henneman (0:05) to take a 4-1 lead after one quarter. The 49ers scored four more

goals in the second quarter, two by Greenwood, to take an 8-2 lead at the half.

In the second contest, Jake Kinne scored three goals and Greenwood two as the 49ers won 9-5 over the Engineers. Wiebe-Bailey recorded a career-high 10 saves in the contest, six in the first half. Long Beach led 4-1 after the first quarter and 5-1 at the half. Wiebe-Bailey accounted for 19 saves in the two games on Sunday while allowing just nine goals.

Next weekend the 49ers travel down the 405 Freeway to Irvine for the SoCal Tournament. The Beach will take on St. Francis (NY) in its opening contest at 9:20 am on Saturday at Anteater Pool.
