BERKELEY, Calif. - Senior Clint Wilson scored a season-best four goals, but Long Beach State fell to Pepperdine 13-10 on Sunday in the 7th place game at the MPSF Tournament at the Spieker Aquatics Complex. The eighth-ranked 49ers ended their season at 17-15 while sixth-ranked Pepperdine finished at 27-10.

Justin Koeppen added two goals for the 49ers and Jake Kinne, Nick Korsgaden, Reid Tomassi and Jeff Greenwood each tallied one goal. Adam Hewko led the Waves with five goals and JP MacDonnell added four.

The 49ers led 7-6 at the half, but saw a strong offensive and defensive showing by the Waves in the second half. Pepperdine scored three goals in the third quarter, while holding Long Beach to one tally, to take 9-8 lead. The Waves put the game away with four scored in the final quarter.

49er goalie Steve MacKenzie recorded 10 goalie saves in his final game. MacKenzie concluded his 49er career with 531 career saves, good for fifth all-time at Long Beach State. His 275 goalie saves this season ranked third-best all-time. Fellow senior Reid Tomassi ended his career with 171 goals to finish fifth all-time on the 49er scoring chart.
