
49ers Drop A Tough One At Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. - Pacific tallied eight second half goals en route to an 11-10 come-from-behind win over No. 7 Long Beach State on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers improve to 15-14 on the season and 1-4 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). The 49ers fell to 14-10 and 1-4 in the MPSF.
Dragan Bakic and Andy Skora both scored four goals for the Tigers. Skora tallied the game-winner with 0:58 left in the contest completing the Tiger comeback.
Long Beach, thanks to four second quarter goals, led the Tigers 6-3 at the half. Travis Buchanan, Reid Tomassi, Jeff Greenwood and Ash Blythen all tallied twice in the contest for the 49ers. Pacific fought back with four goals in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 8-7. The Tigers then scored four more goals in the fourth quarter. Pacific took its first lead of the game with five minutes remaining (10-9) on a goal by Bakic. Long Beach tied the game at 1:23 before Skora's game-winner at 0:58.
Long Beach State goalie Steve MacKenzie finished the day with 12 goalie saves.
The 49ers will next be in action on Saturday, November 3 when they play Pepperdine in an MPSF game in Malibu.
