Morris Named Big West Conference Player Of The Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Senior Donovan Morris has been named the Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Morris (San Bernardino, Calif./Cajon HS) averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in a win over Pepperdine and a double-overtime loss at San Francisco. The 6-foot-3 guard made 14-of-25 shots (56.0 percent), 5-of-9 (55.6 percent) 3-pointers and 8-of-9 free throws (88.9 percent) in the two wins.
In an 80-61 win over Pepperdine last Wednesday, Morris led The Beach with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.
In Saturday's double-overtime loss, Morris scored a team-high 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting and pulled down a season-best eight rebounds while handing out five assists.
With the back-to-back 20-plus point games, Morris has now scored 20 or more points in five straight games. He had 20 in the 49ers comeback win over Weber State, 24 in the double-overtime win at Idaho State and 30 in the win over New Mexico State.
