Long Beach, Calif. - Dirtbag camps are just around the corner, and will feature a number of former Dirtbags from the Major Leagues as well as other current and former players to help with skills, fundamentals and technique. The High School Showcase starts on December 13, and the Kids Holiday Baseball Camp will run from December 22-23.
The Long Beach State staff will first welcome participants to the High School Showcase beginning on December 13. Anaheim Angels pitcher Jered Weaver and Oakland A's shortstop Bobby Crosby will be at the camp working with players, showing them the skills and dedication that took them from Dirtbags to Major Leaguers.
The rest of the coaching staff will be at the camp as well, giving players the last chance to be seen by the staff until March of 2009 per NCAA regulations. Coach Weathers and his staff are still looking for both high school and junior college players to fill recruiting needs.
Later in the month, the LBSU staff will have their kids camp, giving campers a chance to tune up for 2009 league tryouts, learn the "Dirtbag Way" and get the chance to meet current and former players with the program. A discount is available for those who register early.
For more information on either camp, check the Dirtbag Camps page here or contact Mike Callin at mcallin@csulb.edu or (562) 985-4661.
