Athletics Community Readies For 49er Athletic Club Golf Tournament

The 49er Athletic Club has announced that the annual 49er Athletic Club Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at El Dorado Park in Long Beach. The tournament helps fill the 49er Athletic Scholarship Fund for all Long Beach State student-athletes.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the tournament will feature two separate competitions and a full day of golf action. The day begins with the Pre-Tournament Horse Race Golf Competition, where twosomes will play alternate shots in an elimination-style competition prior to the regular tournament. Breakfast and registration will follow, and the official tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.
At the conclusion of play, which will have a shamble format, the 49er Athletic Club will welcome participants to a hosted happy hour and silent auction leading into a clam bake and the awards presentation.
While prizes will be given in a number of competitions, all participants will receive a premium gift package from Long Beach State, which will include a Nike polo and golf shoes, a Long Beach State hat, sunglasses and golf balls.
