Women's Soccer Continues Conference Play on the Road

Long Beach, Calif. - After a four-game home stand Long Beach State (8-4-3, 2-0-1) will continue conference play this weekend as they travel to UC Riverside on Friday at 6 p.m. before heading to Cal State Fullerton on Sunday at 6 p.m.
Long Beach State enters the week third in the Big West Conference, behind Cal Poly and Pacific. They have out-shot their opponents 203-108 and average 13.5 shots per game. Sophomore Lindsay Bullock (Manhattan Beach) leads the team in scoring with seven goals. Senior Kim Silos (Ontario) and sophomore Kristen Kiefer (Mission Viejo) each have five goals a piece. Senior Hayley Bolt (Lakewood) has 10 points, thanks to four goals and two assists.
The 49er defense has produced eight shutouts, the most in the Big West Conference. Long Beach State has given up the fewest goals in the conference this season with just 11, and holds a goals against average of 0.70. Senior goalkeeper Liz Ramos (Bakersfield) has six shutouts, leading the conference. She has a save percentage of 84, allowing only eight goals.
Long Beach State will look to improve its conference record as they take on UC Riverside, who currently stands in eighth, and Cal State Fullerton, who is seventh in the Big West.
UC Riverside (5-8-2, 0-3-1) has been playing without the Big West's leading goal scorer, Heidi Garrett, who has been out the past two games with an injury. Garrett, a sophomore forward, is leading the Highlanders in scoring with seven goals. Senior forward Tessa Lennala is second on the team in offense with six goals, four assists, combining for a total of 16 points.
Cal State Fullerton (6-8-1, 1-3) enters play this weekend after losing four of their last five games. Forward Stacey Fox and defender Jenae Gibbens each have 11 points. Fox has four goals and three assists, while Gibbens has three goals and five assists.
Long Beach State is currently ranked No. 11 in this week's Soccer Buzz regional rankings.
