49er Athletic Club Announced
Re-Vamped Fundraising Arm Sets Sail in January

LONG BEACH-- Long Beach State Athletics has re-launched its main fund-raising arm with a new name and new philosophy as the 49er Athletic Club was founded in January, 2008 to better reach out to the greater Long Beach community. The new approach will maximize contributions and streamline many of the benefits associated with 49er Athletics.

By joining the 49er Athletic Club, members will have priority and exclusive access to priority seating associated with men's and
women's volleyball and basketball and Dirtbag Baseball. By uniting the once separate booster clubs and organizations, the 49er Athletic Club can better enhance the overall athletic experience. Though it is a new name, donors can still specify their gifts to specific sports or to the general scholarship fund.

"A great collegiate athletics program does not build itself," said second-year Athletics Director Vic Cegles. "We are making some changes that will allow us to better leverage the generous support we have received in the past. There is no doubt that academic and athletic excellence go hand in hand. We are relying on our friends and fans to help us sustain this important tradition and give Long Beach State its winning edge."
