Hodges Impressive at Former Home "The coaching was a lot different. The game is different. The rules are different. The competition is lower, it's pretty bad," said Hodges, the son of former Chicago Bulls sharpshooter Craig Hodges. Right now, Jibril is just trying to get some good footage of himself at the 38th Annual Southern California Summer League at the Pyramid to send out to NBA and agents from across the pond. On Thursday, he rattled in 28 points, 17 of which came against the Jamba Juice basketball team in the first half. He shot 12-19 from the floor, also converting 2 of 4 3-pointers. "This is still a good place to get film on yourself because everyone wants to see what you have done lately," he said. "Putting up good numbers here will be important for me." Hodges said that having pro scouts around also raises the level of competition. The former 49er has made some contacts with agents, but they will wait until after the league is over before selecting who they should represent. Hodges' next move will be to compete in the Chicago Pro-Am Summer League. Once the SPL had completed last year, he only played in two games. Because of the shorter schedule this year, he'll be able to get in some more games. There, prep and college players can test their skills against professional players. |
