49ers Feature Six All-Big West Athletes After Day One NORTHRIDGE CA-- Six Long Beach State athletes earned All-Big West honors at the conference championships on Friday, with Alex Shaw upsetting two-time defending champion and teammate, Kim Heinz, to win the javelin as the duo finished 1-2, while Jill Reynolds in the pole vault (third), Tyson Gray in the men's javelin (second), Meredith Kramon in the 10,000-meter (third) and Jennifer Onyeagbako (third) rounded out the list on the first day of competiton. The women's team is in third place with 41.50 points, while the men are in fifth place with 24 points. CS Northirdge leads the women's side, while UC Santa Barbara is ahead on the men's side. Twenty-three athletes moved onto to the finals of various sprint events, with Alex Goldberg (400m), Brent Gray (200m), and Jessica Branker (200m) leading the pack after the preliminaries. The 200-meter women's race features four 49ers who qualified. Nicole Blalock (1500m and 800m), Jasmine Winfield (400m and 200m), Brent Gray (100 and 200m), Alex Goldberg (400m and 200m), Patrice White (100m and 200m) and Branker (200m and 100m) have all qualified for multiple events.
