STANFORD, CA-- The 49er women's golf team is in third place after one round of the Peg Barnard California Collegiate being held at the Stanford University Golf Course. Junior Kay Hoey is in first place after shooting a torrid six-under 65. She holds a four-shot lead over second place Stephanie Sherlock of Denver (69).

Leading the way is the University of Denver which shot a 286. Stanford is one shot back at 287 while the 49ers are three shots back at 289.

Katy Barrett shot a three-over 74 in Friday's opening round and is tied for 14th place while Beth Holtermann and Brenda Chhuor both shot a 75 and are tied for 21st place.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Saturday.
